Guitarist gets kicked from band after pretending to be a permanent member with bizarre story on social media: 'This was a decision based solely on internal issues and intellectual differences'

You think people would really do that? Just go on the internet and lie? Yeah—well, actually, It turns out that's exactly what people do on the internet… Probably more than anything else.

The anonymity of the internet has offered us the chance to be who we want from the outset of it's existence, a great outlet for all of us early adopters who still wouldn't dream of exposing our true identities and are horrified by younger people's eagerness to bare all online. And, well, it turns out anonymous forums aren't the only place where people go to lie, instead of making up stories on Reddit to live out revenge fantasies and get fake internet points, people actually go to their public profiles to make up things and control the narrative of their lives and the lens through which real people who they know in real life view them.

Heck, all of us do this with social media to an extent…. making the mundanity of our daily existence seem exciting through snapshots that we offer (and filter) to convey exactly what we want it to. The ability to do that through a lens you point at yourself for the world too see is as terrifying as it is beautiful.. until someone takes it too far.

Well, it's kind of hard to lie when the evidence directly contradicts your story and when someone is willing to step in and bring receipts, but people go ahead and do it anyways in order to aggrandize their own appearance to others.

The cope here of I'm "stepping aside from my band" and "I'm my own boss now" is the same 'copium' that we've seen from major streamers when they act like they're "stepping aside" from their game studio, or another company that they founded and are now being fired from for misconduct.
This guitarist was filling in for an unnamed label-signed band as a temporary replacement while their guitarist was away on medical leave. Well, by the looks of things, he was letting it get to his head when he shared this story (that has a real “and everyone clapped” vibe) on his socials.
The band members soon replied to set the story straight and let the world know that they were ending the relationship early and immediately.
